Jakarta, Indonesia, January 18, 2021 – The Chevron IndoAsia Business Unit (IBU) today named Albert Simanjuntak its Managing Director, effective February 1, 2021. Simanjuntak, succeeds Kevin Lyon who has been appointed General Director of Tengizchevroil in Kazakhstan. Currently President Director of PT. Chevron Pacific Indonesia (PT CPI).
As the head of Chevron’s upstream operations in Indonesia and the Philippines for the past two years, Lyon navigated the IBU through several key milestones and challenges, with a focus on protecting people and the environment while delivering on production targets and enhancing Indonesia’s energy sovereignty.
Lyon said Simanjuntak’s promotion to Managing Director was a recognition of the value he has delivered not only to Chevron, but also to Indonesia.
“Pak Albert’s collaborative approach was a driving force behind the recently signed Rokan Heads of Agreement, which will ensure Rokan continues to contribute to production targets and state revenues for many years to come,” he said.
Commenting on his appointment, Albert Simanjuntak said "It is truly an honor for me to be trusted by the company to be in this leadership position. I will continue to prioritize safety and reliability of the company's operations and execute smooth transition and successful handover of the Rokan Block”.
Albert Simanjuntak joined Chevron in 1987 and has held significant roles throughout his career with increasing responsibility, including Senior Vice President of Policy, Government, and Public Af f airs of Chevron IBU in 2013, General Manager of Category & Supply Management in Houston in 2007 until 2010. He also delivered social investment initiatives from various sectors such as local economic development, environment, education and health which provided enormous contributions to society.
